Cloud enterprise services company Salesforce was hit with a serious outage this morning due to a fault in its “storage tier,” a problem that appears to be mostly resolved.
Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff (pictured) has been a fierce advocate for cloud computing and cloud-connected services, and the company recently to bet on cloud-based social and marketing services. But one of the biggest problems with delivering your services via the cloud is having to keep it active 24/7/365, as Salesforce saw today with disappointed customers.
The outage started at 3:34 am PT and appeared to be resolved at 9:30 am PT, according to the company’s status dashboard. The outage mostly affected customers in North America and Europe. As of 9:30, the company’s technology team wrote:
The salesforce.com Technology Team has resolved the service availability issue on the NA2 instance. The issue began at 10:25am UTC and was completed at 16:24pm UTC. The problem was related to a fault in our storage tier, which has subsequently been resolved. We thank you for your continued business and patience during this situation.
