Top DisplayPort monitors under $400

This is where the magic happens. The dark, seedy, micro-packeting magic!

DisplayPort has yet to supplant DVI as the premiere PC monitor connection standard. In fact, if the monitors I’ve reviewed over the past two years are any indication, HDMI is still far more ubiquitous than DisplayPort.

With a higher maximum bandwidth, a built-in cable retention feature, and multiple monitor (over one cable) support, I’m still scratching my head as to why DisplayPort isn’t more popular than it is, at the consumer level at least.

It’s a high-bandwidth input that (unlike HDMI) I’ve yet to have any technical problems with. Here’s hoping more monitors take a cue from the following five.

Sure it’s big and clunky-looking, but it also costs less than $200. So, you know, there’s that.

Lenovo L2251x Wide With a built-in Webcam, plenty of ergo support, and four whole USB ports for less than $200, I’m having a difficult time not just throwing my money at its pics. Read the full review.

NEC Multisync E231W Sure, it requires some initial calibration, but once you’re satiated on settings, the E231W will satisfy with its significant amount of services. Read the full review.

Dell UltraSharp P2210 No HDMI, but you’re not here for lower bandwidth connections anyway are you? What the P2210 does have is four-way ergo support, multiple USB ports, and good movie and games performance. Read the full review.

Dell UltraSharp U2412m Sure it does its own stunts, but the U2412m is also, pound for pound, the best bargain on the list, with full ergo support, and a bountiful smorgasbord of OSD options. Read the full review.
