AnyTouch Turns Any Surface Into a Touchscreen [VIDEO]

Startup Ayotle and advertising agency Digitas want to turn everything — even a piece of paper — into an interactive surface.

The two companies have partnered to develop AnyTouch, a prototype that transforms objects into touchscreens. How? With special software, a 3D camera and sensors (see video).

AnyTouch's concept resembles other surface computing products such as the 40-inch Microsoft Surface 2.0 and the Draqie interactive table, which has a touchscreen with a menu on it.

Touchscreen technology has seen several interesting uses this year. New Yorkers began seeing phone booths with 32-inch touchscreen devices in them this year. The Minebea Cool Leaf Keyboard, a touchscreen typing device, came out in May. And Toshiba released an all-in-one PC with a touchscreen display in April.
